Resposta to "Tamiya 1/35 Easy Eight - Korean War"

Aqui tem  uma discussão sobre isto. Em um determinado momento, surge uma resposta do próprio David Doyl, que conseguiu a foto:

David Doyle is a friend of mine and I reached out to him, informing him of the questions surrounding the color photo. He posted the following on FB and on TL. I'm sure he won't mind my posting his words here:

Hi Guys,
I can speak to some of the questions that you have posed.

I supplied the color image under discussion (and some others), as I recall both color and black and white, to Tamiya. Most of these I found at the Archives, others passed along to me by friends.

They are NOT colorized, the images are from the US National Archives. At the archives there is a small, poor color print, and the original color transparency.

I am on the road at the moment wrapping up research for a forthcoming book, so I do no have all the material involved at hand. However, I do have a scan of the print with me me.

I have posted this image, as well as its original Signal Corps caption, at:

https://daviddoylebooks.com/rices-red-devils/

I'll post more images on that page when I get back home.

Personally, I do not believe that there is any black paint on the glacis, rather, I think that the dark areas are olive drab - but that is merely my opinion.

If one considers that on the turret side is stenciled "Rice's Red Devils" - and that Satan is normally depicted in art as red in color - the red artwork is logical (were it Tom's Tangerine Tigers - then yellow would make since).

Hope this helps!

Best,
David Doyl

Por fim, aqui tem a foto no álbum dele.
