SANTOS DUMONT 14 bis (1906) KIT
A 1:72 kit of the 14-bis (Quatorze-bis), also known as Oiseau de proie (French for "bird of prey"), was a pioneer-era canard biplane designed and built by Brazilian inventor Alberto Santos-Dumont. On 23 October 1906, in Paris, France, it performed the first officially witnessed unaided takeoff and flight by a heavier-than-air aircraft.
The kit contains:
- A fret of etched brass for the airframe parts plus a brass stencil for fuselage markings
- A fret of 0.006” etched nickel silver for the spokes of the wheels plus other details
- A form tool to give the spokes their conical form
- A cast metal engine, propeller and other details
- Litespan film to cover the model
- A cast metal figure of Santos Dumont
