The Sherman Firefly Tanks in Lebanon; 1954 - 1980
Part # 1
Part # 2
Wow! First let me say thanks to MMI for an outstanding set of markings. For those of you who want to model some armor that is a little more "out of the ordinary" this set of decals is a must have.
Set #1 contains enough markings for 4 vehicles. They are:
A: Lebanese Army, Beirut in 1958 ( Light Olive drab base color )
B: Lebanese Army, Bahjat Ganem Barracks in 1970 ( Light Stone base color )
C: Lebanese Army, Tyre Barracks in 1970's ( Light Stone base color )
D: Army of Arab Lebanon, during the mutiny in 1976 ( Light Stone base color with green lettering on hull and turret sides
Set #2 also contains enough markings for 4 vehicles. They are:
A: Al-Mourabetoun Militia in 1981 ( Light Stone base color )
B: Al-Mourabetoun Militia ( Light Olive Drab base color )
C: Phalangist Militia 1976 - 1978 ( Light Stone base color, hand painted markings
D: Phalangist Militia 1976 - 1978 ( Light Stone base color, stenciled markings
Set # 2 also contains various Catholic paintings, party logotypes and portraits that can be attached to the tanks depending on what version you are doing.
The instruction sheets also give you details to change on the tanks to make them more accurate for the time frame. This is a very nice touch.
The decals are included in the December 2009 and the January 2010 issues of Military Modelcraft International. They can also be purchased at the MMI Shop
guidelines@regallitho.co.uk or from the editor ( Paypal only ) at
mmieditor@live.co.uk .
This is a limited edition set of 500, so if you are interested, get them soon.
Overall, this set of markings is just fantastic. They are very, very well researched and Bison has done a superb job on the printing. The paint drips on the hand painted markings are just amazing. The team that put these together can be very proud of themselves.
I highly recommend this set of decals.
My sincere thanks to Military Modelcraft International for the review sample.
